Mangroves: A unique and important habitat

Mangrove forests are an important habitat here on Florida's Gulf Coast.  They protect the fragile shoreline from storm damage, filter and purify freshwater runoff, serve as a nursery for valued game fish, and provide a home for a myriad of diverse species.  They are best viewed from a canoe or kayak where one can quietly enjoy the beauty of nature.
