Amberjack Preserve, Englewood Florida

Gray Catbird (Dumetella carolinensis)

Cabbage Palm (Sabal palmetto), Florida's state tree, and the only native palm in the Sunshine State.

Slash Pine (Pinus elliotti).

Corn Snake (Elaphe guttata).  If you look closely, you can see my reflection in it's eye!!!

Armadillo track (Dasypus novemcinctus).

  1. i was googling the Gray Catbird because i saw an unidentified bird today...at least one i hadn't seen before. after searching through my bird books, etc, i decided it's this Catbird. but mine looked SO blue-ish!! then i saw yours. same tone.
    anyway, just wanted to say thanks. i have a 'nature blog' too if you ever feel like wandering over there. (i live in gainesville, fl)
    love the tree shots & the corn snake too!
