Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve: "Swampin!"

Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve in Fort Meyers, Florida is a great day trip visit to a Bald Cypress swamp.  There is a nice visitor center and boardwalk for observation.  I find the swamp landscapes just fascinating.  Here are some photos I took there last November.

Bald Cypress trees (Taxodium distichum).

Cypress knees...actually roots!

Don't you just love the "greens?"

A bit of swamp haze in this one!

Resurrection Ferns (Polypodium polypodiodes).

Alligator Flags (Thalia geniculata).

I always like black and white shots from swamps!

Curious Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis)

Common Cooter (Pseudemys floridana)

Swamp Fern (Blenchum serrulatum)
